If you are looking for new window treatments for you home and would like to veer away from conventional options such as curtains and drapes, then blinds would be an ideal choice for you. These window treatments can be installed both externally as well internally. In addition, they provide sufficient protection from the sun while maintaining your residence's privacy. However, it should be noted that there is a myriad of types blinds on the market. As such, it would be best to know what is available so as to enable you to make the right choice. Here are some of the options you could consider when contemplating blinds for your home.
Wooden blinds
These are the most common types of blinds that you will come across. The vanes of these blinds tend to be wider than other types of blinds. This makes them better suited to deep-set windows. It should be noted though that the wider vanes tend to make the wooden blinds heavier, thus you should consider motorising them to ease the burden of opening and closing them.
Vertical blinds
These types of blinds open by being slid to the side, rather than rolling up and down. As such, they are ideal for large windows or doors since the vertical slats will collapse in on each other. These types of blinds come in an array of colours thus you can be assured they will complement the entryways of your home.
Roller blinds
As the name suggests, these blinds open and close by being rolled up and down. They are an ideal choice for homeowners who would like to control the amount of natural light in their home, as you can open up the slats at varying degrees. It should be noted though that roller blinds do not offer much in terms of insulating your residence from either the temperatures or ambient noise.
Honeycomb blinds
These are also referred to as cellular blinds. Their vanes are in a cylindrical or elliptical shape, thus the resemblance to a honeycomb. One of the greatest advantages of these blinds is that they do not take up much space when they are open. Additionally, the cylindrical shape of the vanes also works toward providing some degree of insulation for your home. It should be noted though that honeycomb blinds could prove tricky to keep completely clean due to the structure of the vanes. You may have to bring them down to ensure you gain access into the elliptical vanes.
